Collision Services FAQ

Navigating the repair and insurance process can be stressful. We’ve compiled answers to the most common questions to help put your mind at ease.

Estimates & Insurance

Do I have to take my car to the body shop my insurance company recommends?

No. By law, you have the absolute right to choose the auto body shop where you want your vehicle repaired. Your insurance company may suggest a “preferred” or “direct repair” shop, but they cannot force you to use them. North Amherst Motors works with all major insurance companies and we advocate for you to ensure a proper, high-quality repair.

No, you do not need three estimates. You only need one estimate from the shop you choose to perform the repairs. Once you select North Amherst Motors, we will write a comprehensive estimate and handle all negotiations with your insurance company directly.

We highly recommend scheduling a consultation so we can dedicate the proper time to assess your vehicle. However, you can also text us photos of the damage for a preliminary look, or fill out our online request form. If you are scheduling a mechanical service, appointments are also strongly recommended.

It is very common to find additional, hidden damage once we disassemble the vehicle. When this happens, we document the damage and submit a “Supplement” directly to your insurance company. We wait for their approval before proceeding, ensuring the additional costs are covered by the claim.

The Repair Process

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes! We offer a Lifetime Repair Guarantee. We stand by the quality of our craftsmanship. Our auto body repairs are 100% guaranteed for as long as you own your vehicle. You can drive away with complete peace of mind.

Repair times vary greatly depending on the severity of the damage, the availability of specific replacement parts, and the insurance approval process. During your consultation, your Repair Planner will provide you with an estimated timeline. We also offer text updates to keep you informed every step of the way.

Absolutely. We use a state-of-the-art, eco-friendly water-based paint system and advanced color-matching technology. Our certified painters carefully blend the new paint into the adjacent panels to ensure a seamless, exact factory match.

Yes, we have a full on-site rental department! If you have rental coverage on your policy, we can set you up with an Insurance Rental and bill your insurance directly. If you don’t have coverage, we offer special discounted daily rates for our repair customers to keep you moving.
